Right now the top headline in the tennis world is the Wimbledon ban on Russian and Belarusian players. Andrey Rublev, Russian and world no. 8 said that all the players were in discussion with the Wimbledon committee and he said that there was ‘complete discrimination’ and nothing ‘made sense’. He also adds that the tennis prize money can be used for the refugees and help families and that tennis and more specifically Wimbledon would be the first sport to do so.

In response to this, former Ukrainian player Alexander Dolgopolov said that Rublev was a complete hypocrite and a liar. In a long Twitter message, he cited the reasons why that was so. The 33-year-old Ukrainian player had to retire in 2019 due to a wrist injury and has now joined the Ukraine forces to fight the Russians.

Andrey Rublev is one of the many tennis stars who wanted peace between the countries so that they could get to play in the prestigious Grand Slam tournament. His chances of raising higher up the rankings have now crashed since he couldn’t play the Wimbledon. In a shocking move, this is what the Ukrainian player.

He then compares Rublev to the Russian president Vladimir Putin and more. These are some of the quotes: “This statement of Rublev is a perfect example, why LTA decision is the right decision. Exactly what his president [Vladimir Putin] and their propaganda does every day, LIE!”I don’t know anything, I’m not reading the news, I’m not following, I have no education.”

‘Rublev played doubles with a Ukrainian player 10 days before the start of the big war, has straight contact to any Ukrainian player on tournaments and yes, he surely knows what is happening, considering he wrote ‘no war’ on camera in the first days of this war.’

‘We didn’t quite understand – does that mean for Ukraine to surrender and hoped he will explain and speak up, but of course nothing followed. Andrei, you want to know what’s happening? Try Googling one word – Bucha. Or I’m sure you have my contact, feel free to ask, I will show you.

“Your country is doing genocide in Ukraine, that was said by American and Canadian leaders and Latvia, Estonia already announced it genocide on levels of their laws. The rest will soon follow. So after claiming he knows nothing and [is] basically blind and uneducated, he goes on to explain why this won’t help, about discrimination and democracy.

‘Wait a second, we thought you’re uneducated and don’t know a thing about politics and smart words like that. If you know nothing and don’t follow [the news], why on earth are you willing to donate your prize money? And which families and kids [do]you want to help?

‘Families of Russian soldiers, I’m sure they are suffering too? Be more precise and try speaking the truth.’

‘You want to the first to donate out of sports? Guess again.

‘Roger [Federer] donated $500,000. [New York] Jets $1million. [David] Beckham £1m. Premier League £1m. Real Madrid $1m. NASCAR $1m round of ammunitions and the list goes on and on.

‘So please, better just say nothing than try to LIE, like your government does, just to keep your regular life running.

“Because here your country is massively raping kids and women, executing tied people in the back of their head and acting like barbarians. Unfortunately this speech is full of hypocrisy and lies, and ATP and WTA should really not want to cover this kind of behavior. If they [Russians and Belorussians] want to speak, speak the truth and precisely, not with lies.’Thanks to all the world for [your] support, and big hug from Kyiv, Ukraine,” he concluded.

Who do you all support? Rublev or Dolgopolov?
