Venus Williams, the 42-year-old has achieved so much throughout her career, winning 7 Grand Slams in the process. She hasn’t played a singles tournament since August 2021 and will be making her Citi Open debut soon at the age of 42, the former world number 1 will have all eyes on her at the tournament.

The Citi Open or the Washington Open starts on the 30th of July and will end on the 7th of August, Williams accepted a wild card entry into the WTA 250 tournament, she will also be one of the five Grand Slam winners in the tournament, except her Emma Raducanu, Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka, Sloane Stephens, and Sofia Kenin will also be taking part in the Citi Open.

The organizers at the Citi Open are thrilled as well to have a player as big as Venus Williams participate in the tournament, it will be a treat to all tennis fans to see the American legend in action once again, Williams last took part as a mixed double pairing with Jamie Murray at the Wimbledon where they faced elimination in the second round.

Expressing her excitement about playing at the Citi Open for the first time, Venus said, “I am excited to be playing the Citi Open for the first time this summer. I love Washington, DC, and returning to the nation’s capital to play in front of a community that has supported me so strongly feels like a homecoming. I am looking forward to being back on the courts and competing in DC soon.”
