“A national embarrassment,” Nick Kyrgios openly mocks critics after practice session with Novak Djokovic sells out
Fans support Nick Kyrgios after Australian tennis star went on with sarcastic rant on Twitter aimed at his critics.
Nick Kyrgios
Australian tennis professional Nick Kyrgios has been subjected to bad press consistently, way more than the others. The flamboyant star shares some of the blame for that. In his career, Kyrgios was seen smashing his racquet in anger, yelling at umpires, and badmouthing his opponents during the matches. This has earned him the nickname ‘bad boy of tennis’.
But Kygios himself never seemed to be bothered about all that. The 27-year-old believes that all his antics, on and off the court help make tennis more popular, especially among the younger generation. Now in a sarcastic tweet, Kyrgios has blasted his haters after his practice match against the Serbian star Novak Djokovic before the Australian Open sold out completely in less than an hour.
“Wow Nick Kyrgios is bad for the sport! Wow what a disgrace, a national embarrassment! How dare he sell out another stadium, the arrogance,” the tweet of the 2022 Wimbledon finalist read.
Kyrgios always believes that he is among the few players consistently able to attract the crowd to the stadiums. Previously too, he has tweeted about the same taking a dig at his critics for calling him a ‘pure villain’ and being bad for the game. Kyrgios countered their opinion by spelling out how he helps everyone involved in the game financially too through his popularity.

Endorsing the trend, the fans again came to support their superstar. “Big fan for everything you do for the sport! And my entertainment,” one of the fans wrote. Here are some other interesting tweets.
Despite being the fans’ favorite, some social media users also pointed out this particular situation where he is pitted against Novak Djokovic. They believe the Serb has the greater ability to pull the fans to the stadiums. The practice match is scheduled to be held on 13th January which is part of the ‘three-week extravaganza’ earlier described by the Australian Open Director Craig Tiley and the fans can not wait for that.
