In the Den Bosch final, Daniil Medvedev was defeated 6-4 6-2 by Tim van Rijthoven, a native wild card recipient. Daniil Medvedev apparently did not show up, therefore the match was cut short and unremarkable.

By a long shot, this was the Russian’s most drab performance to date. To be absolutely fair, he was up against a player who was playing his best tennis in front of his home fans. Tim van Rijthoven was much more enthusiastic today than he had been earlier in the week.

Tim van Rijthoven took an early 2-0 lead, however, the match was called off in the third game due to Medvedev’s nosebleed. It’s nothing out of the ordinary; it’s occurred before. The action resumed after the MTO, with Medvedev pulling back to break, and it was then a grass-court battle. At 5-4, van Rijthoven was given another chance, which he took, winning the first set 6-4.

The Dutch player served incredibly effectively throughout the match, and Daniil Medvedev struggled mightily to reclaim the ball. In the second set, he completely tuned out of the contest. He was hitting the ball wide or through the net without putting up much of a struggle. In the end, it took the Dutch star a little over 60 minutes to win his first trophy on home soil. He’ll make a huge leap in the rankings, nearly breaking into the top 100.
