The Australian Open started its 112th edition this year, welcoming new players as well as a new set of rules. With a vision to improve the tennis experience for viewers, the Australian Open organizers have decided to leave the gates open between gates for fans to move around the court.

Earlier, the fans were allowed to enter the court only during the changeover, but now they can enter the court for every odd game.

While the rule is enjoyed by the fans, many tennis players are not happy with it. Recently, Paula Badosa admitted to feeling discomfort due to the new rule. Badosa finds it uncomfortable to play amongst a noisy crowd, as she is unable to listen to her team and is unsure if it will work in the future.

I don't really like it because there's a lot of noise, as I said. I mean, my opponent in the first round and now also complained. It's not very comfortable.
Said Paula Badosa after her match win.

Upon returning to tennis, Badosa won her first match to gain some momentum going forward. Following that, she beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a crushing two-set victory.

With very few errors, Badosa announced her return to tennis with a straight win of 6-2, 6-3. The Spaniard now advances to the third round of the Australian Open with hopes of having a deep run.

Jordan Thompson joins Paula Badosa to comment on the change in rule at the Australian Open

The new set of rules by the Australian Open has not gotten good reviews from the players who find it disturbing.

Novak Djokovic was previously seen as unhappy with the crowd. As a player who is accustomed to the old rules, he finds the change distracting. Following World No. 1, even Daniil Medvedev complained about the same. Badosa complained for the second time about the distracting crowd.

A recent addition to this list was Jordan Thompson, who just lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Australian was unaware of the new rule and found it unnecessary because of the rich history of tennis, which did not involve it.

The draw lessens players, as only 32 advance to the next round of the men’s draw. Both Tsitsipas and Badosa have made it to the second week of the tournament and would only hope to last longer.

Fans are in for the ride as the tournament only gets harder for the players, with deserving players competing against each other for a spot to dethrone Djokovic.
