Australian tennis player Ajla Tomljanovic will be missing out on tennis action as she has been sidelined for two months after undergoing surgery.

The 30-year-old shared the update on Instagram. Tomljanovic revealed that she has undergone surgery to remove non-cancerous tumors from her uterus. This means that she will not be able to compete for at least a couple of weeks.

Hello everyone, unfortunately, I won’t be competing for a couple of weeks… was very much looking forward to the next hard court events. I had to get some uterine fibroids removed and will be watching from home while healing. Will be back soon

Ajla Tomljanovic still finding a way up

This is not the first time Ajla Tomljanovic has been sidelined due to injury. The 30-year-old missed the majority of tennis action in 2023 due to injuries.

While Tomljanovic was included in Australia’s United Cup team in 2023, she could not take part in the tournament after injuring herself. She could only make a comeback at the 2023 US Open.

However, Tomljanivic could not perform to expectations as she bowed out after losing to Elena Rybakina in the second round. The 30-year-old had similar outings in the next two tournaments. However, Tomljanovic bagged a title at the Mundo Tenis Open in Brazil.

She then took part in the 2024 United Cup, but only to lose three out of the four matches played. Tomljanovic managed to win a match at the 2024 Australian Open but could not go past Jelena Ostapenko. In her next tournament, the Thailand Open, the Australian suffered a first-round exit.

However, Tomljanovic was least bothered by these defeats. The Australian says she was happy to be competing on the tour.

I feel like I should be angry, but I’m really chilled because it didn’t feel like I did something crazy wrong. When I do think back to 12 months ago, I just feel lucky that I’m here.

Now, Ajla Tomljanovic has suffered this massive blow before the much-anticipated Indian Wells. It is to be seen how long the Australian takes before she stages a comeback.

In case you missed!
