Former Spanish tennis player Alex Corretja reveals a few important insights into his fellow player Rafael Nadal’s possible return to professional tennis. Earlier, the CEO of the Australian Open, Craig Tiley, confirmed Nadal’s return to the prestigious tournament. However, soon the Spaniard tweeted his vote of confidence, hence not fully confirming his comeback or showing signs of not returning.
The tennis world has eagerly been waiting for Rafa to return since his early exit from the last Australian Open. “Hopefully, he’s going to announce he’s coming back. But I’m not expecting that before the middle of December, maybe because that would be pretty much the time that I believe that he will know if he is ready to start the season in Australia or not. But if he does that before, that would be awesome. We are waiting for Rafa desperately,” Corretja said in an interview with Eurosports.
Corretja expressed optimism, hoping that the Spaniard would return soon, but the former player is still being realistic and has also stated that unfortunate things can happen. “But I’m not expecting that before the middle of December,” revealed the current commentator.

Alex Corretja tones down Nadal’s possible return in 2024
As fans continue their everlasting anticipation of Nadal’s possible return to tennis, former tennis player Alex Corretja is way more cautious and gives a few insights on the Spaniard. “They need to be very careful about what they say about Rafa’s news’. Because it’s still almost three months away from the Australian Open, lots of things can happen and I don’t think it’s necessary to put the whole pressure on yourself, like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m going to be there’,” revealed the tennis player turned athlete.

The athlete also revealed a few insights on Iga Swiatek’s possible comeback and that she is one of the major contenders to win back her number-one position. After a weak performance at the US Open, Iga lost her number-one spot to Aryna Sabalenka and has since not played enough tennis to win it back. “
She’s a fighter,” said Alex in an interview with Eurosports. However, with the next Grand Slam being the Australian Open, fans are awaiting the return of many top-ranked players to battle it out yet again.
