Alex de Minaur has talked about Novak Djokovic yet again, but this time spoke in awe of the player referring to him as the favorite going into the Wimbledon Championships despite being seeded second. de Minaur rates the seven-time Wimbledon champion as the ultimate opponent in the tournament and that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Serbian manages to win his 8th title.

de Minaur said in the post-game presser at Queen’s Championship, “I think Djokovic is still favorite for Wimbledon, but anything can happen. If the favorite always won, it would be a boring sport. Novak is the favorite, but there are plenty of players who can hurt him & make it difficult.” de Minaur has some across Djokovic only once in his career at the 2023 Australian Open, with Djokovic beating him 2-6, 1-6, 2-6.

But Australian Open CEO, Paul McNamee was not happy with the decision saying that Djokovic’s aberration of not receiving the points he won last year has cost him his top-seeded spot. Carlos Alcaraz, on getting the top-seeded spot, said, “No. 1 before Wimbledon gives you some motivation and extra confidence for me to win Wimbledon. Doesn’t change too much whether I play Wimbledon No. 1 or No. 2.”

There has been a lot of fuss in recent weeks about Novak Djokovic not being seeded No. 1 at the Wimbledon Championships which starts next week. World No. 1 and top prospect Carlos Alcaraz has been seeded the No. 1 after the Spaniard won the 2023 Queen’s Club Championships trophy recently. He beat Alex de Minaur in the final by 6-4, 6-4 which guaranteed him his top seed spot.

However, everyone knows that this isn’t going to make any change for Djokovic and his championship plans as the seed number means so less for a player who has been fighting his way to the top for the last 15 years and has surpassed literally every tennis player in the history in terms of Grand Slams. Alcaraz recently overcame Djokovic in the ATP rankings by 80 points taking him to 7675 compared to Djokovic’s 7596 just ahead of Wimbledon.
