The 2023-2024 United Cup has been a huge success so far as the whole tennis world is loving the content produced from this tournament. Earlier today, team Australia managed to shock the whole world as Alex de Minaur beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

What started as a great year for the Serbian, he soon registered his first loss of the season to the Australian. The final score was 6-4, 6-4 as the Australian camp got one step closer to advancing to the semi-finals of the tournament. The star of the day was the young Australian de Minaur who continued to entertain the fans as he made a proposal bet if he wins the Australian Open.

During the post-match interview, the Australian had a hilarious interview where he was urged to propose to his girlfriend if he managed to win the Australian Open. De Minaur has always idolized Lleyton Hewitt, and the interviewer used this to make a bet.

Back in 2005, Hewitt lost the finals of the Australian Open but still managed to steal the show as he proposed to his then-girlfriend Rebecca Cartwright. The interviewer asked Minaur if he would do the same to his girlfriend Katie Boulter if he won the Australian Open.

Great win tonight. You mentioned the AO. Rusty is your idol on the court. But what about off the court? In 2005 he proposed to his then-girlfriend Bec. Will we get a proposal to Katie after the AO?--If you win the AO?

(Laughter.) Jeez. Putting me on the spot here. Yeah, it's not on the cards just yet. Not ruling it out. But yeah, for the time being, I'm going to try and focus on playing tennis and then we'll think about the off-court activities.--Jeez (smiling). Wouldn't be a bad way to celebrate it, let's just say that.

To this, the interviewer asked, “Deal?” The Australian replied “Yeah”. The Melbourne crowd surely has more than tennis to look forward to this season.
