Alex de Minaur pledged a little bit of revenge for Australia after his second-round victory against Italian Matteo Arnaldi at the Australian Open.
Following Australia’s defeat to Italy in the Davis Cup finals in 2023, De Minaur vowed to avenge his nation. He finally achieved this feat in the second-round match against his Italian opponent.
De Minaur revealed that he was very happy after defeating Arnaldi.
Matteo is a hell of a player. Very exciting. Has a lot of fire power and a very very high level.Said de Minaur in his post-match interview with Jim Courier.
Describing his unfinished business with Italy, De Minaur went up close with his heartbreaking experience at the Davis Cup.
Yeah, it's no secret it was heart breaking at the end of the year losing to Italy in the Davis Cup final. But I told the boys we're gonna be back there. Today was a little bit of revenge for Australia.Said de Minaur
The Australian will have yet another opportunity to exact revenge against Italy in the third round of his home slam. He is set to face Flavio Coboli, yet another Italian, in the third round.

World No. 10 Alex de Minaur defeated Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the second round of the Australian Open. He is set to face Flavio Coboli in the third round of the tournament.
De Minaur defeated his Italian opponent in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-0, 6-3. The young Italian was no match for his opponent, as he was defeated by the tennis professional
The World No. 10 player will now face Flavio Coboli in the next round. While the Australian is a consistent player, he has not seen much success in Grand Slams. He will hope to change these numbers by the end of his campaign in Australia.
