Australian tennis ace Alex de Minaur issued a stern warning to his girlfriend and Briton Katie Boulter as the couple get ready to represent their respective countries at the 2024 United Cup. Minaur threatened to expose Boulter’s weaknesses if they played against each other.
Before the kickoff of the multi-nation tournament, Minaur talked about a potential faceoff between him and Boulter and then went on to issue a warning saying that as he has played mixed doubles with her, he knows her weaknesses and hence can use it for his team’s advantage if they were to face each other.

Minaur also said that if the couple were to lock horns against each other, there would be no leniency and all business.
Well, you never know until you sign on the dotted line, come that mixed (doubles)," de Minaur said on Thursday. "I could be an option (for the doubles). I have played mixed in the past with Katie, so I know all her weaknesses! I've watched enough of her matches to know the spots to be attacking. If we step out on the court, it's just all business.Alex de Minaur said in the pre-tournament press conference. (H/T: News.com.au)
Alex de Minaur’s warning turned into a hoax by Katie Boulter
While Alex de Minaur planned to expose his girlfriend and opponent Katie Boulter, the Briton turned his warning into a hoax when Australia faced Great Britain in their campaign opener at the 2024 United Cup. Boulter’s team won the matchup 2-1 as Cameron Norrie and Katie Boulter secured wins for their team.

Although Boulter and Alex de Minaur did not face each other, the Briton showed she believes in all work and no talk. Boulter, in her singles match against Ajla Tomljanovic was too good to play against. The World No.56 ousted Tomljanovic who was making a comeback after ten months in straight sets. Boulter won the match 6-2, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Alex de Minaur ended on the losing side in his matchup against Cameron Norrie. Although the Australian fought it hard and took the match in three sets after conceding the first set, Norrie sealed the deal in the tiebreaker. The Briton beat his good friend 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7/2).
With these wins, Great Britain started their campaign on a high. They will next face the defending champions, the United States on 31 December. Meanwhile, Australia will meet the USA on 1 January.
