In the USA, the Super Bowl is the most significant sporting event. The Super Bowl is the National Football League‘s (NFL) final playoff game each year to decide the league champion. The league event is being held for the 57th time. On February 12, 2023, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will compete in the great contest.

The Super Bowl is an annual celebration for all of America. This celebration joins the whole American population. Every person from all walk of life is glued to their television screens or present in the stadium. Hence, it is not a surprise that players from other sports are also excited for this grand annual event.

The Super Bowl is also that event which holds public attention like no other sporting event does in America. Hence, companies shell huge amount of money to showcase their creative ads during the event. This year beer brand Michellob Ultra’s Super Bowl ad features many popular names- basketball players Jimmy Butler and Nneka Ogwumike, former NFL player and now commentator Tony Romo, professional boxer Canelo Alvarez and guitarist Kenny Loggins.

However, there is one name that has gotten even tennis fans excited for this year’s Michellob Ultra’s Super Bowl ad. Serena Williams is also participating in this ad. Besides, her FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 and 2019 winner Alex Morgan, is also part of this ad. Both the ladies will be seen playing golf in the commercial.

“There’s always that anticipation – of receiving an email and like, ‘here’s the spot, take a look, let us know what you think.’ Seeing that it was centered around golf and making it younger – seeing where golf has come in the last couple of years and how diverse it’s gotten. And the fact that I personally have gotten into golf over the last two or three years – I, by no means, am good, but I am getting there. So, that [aspect] was exciting for me, to put my skills to the test and see that not only am I getting into golf, but the rest of the country is, right now,” she adds. “So, it was really fun doing the commercial,” she said.

She also elaborated upon her experience of filming with the celebrities and sports legends which includes Serena Williams amongst others.

“It was really fun. And, it’s like, every year, there’s the anticipation of ‘what is this year’s Super Bowl spot gonna be? How far are they taking this? Like, what sports are they gonna include? And who am I gonna spend the day with shooting?’ So, it’s always a really fun experience,” she continued.

Serena Williams share news about her new Nike collection

The 23-time Grand Slam champion is one of the greatest sportsperson in the world. After a career that spanned for 27 years with numerous successes on the court, Serena Williams finally decided to ‘evolve away from tennis’. She played her last match against Ajla Tomljanovic at the US Open 2022. Following her defeat at the hands of the Australian, 5-7, 7(7)-6(4), 1-6, she was given a warm farewell in front of her family and supporters.

Before this match, she also played with Venus Williams as a doubles pair in the same competition. However, the all-American pair lost against all-Czech pair of Linda Noskova and Lucie Hradecka in the first round and was knocked out. Following her retirement, the seven-time Wimbledon champion has kept herself busy by giving interviews, spending more time with family and friends and managing her business ventures.

Serena Williams has also launched an initiative with apparel giant Nike- Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC).The initiative’s primary objective is to provide opportunities for aspiring designers from all backgrounds, particularly those that were marginalized.

In partnership with Nike, SWDC creates streetwear, footwear, and performance apparel. Serena Williams shared photos of the gorgeous new collection on social media. The former tennis player could be seen sporting a few looks from the new line.

“Made for the dreamers, by the dreamers. Each year, we hand-select up-and-coming designers to bring fresh new takes from their own cultural lens,” her caption read.

Tennis fans are just happy to watch Serena Williams try out different things post-retirement. Her new commercial that features her, Alex Morgan and other celebrities will be received by many with equal joy.
