Alexander Bublik just made an aggravatingly controversial remark during his first-round match against Dominic Thiem in the ongoing US Open, which was caught on camera. As expected, the clip in question went viral in no time, and the Kazakhstani player is facing tremendous heat all over the internet for the same.

It must be noted here that Dominic Thiem made his return to tennis in this match after a major wrist injury that he suffered near the end of 2021.

During his match against Alexander Bublik, Thiem was dominating from the very first set, which was what everyone had expected. However, when Alexander Bublik was 1–5 down, he was caught saying on camera, “I’m f****** sick of getting all these disabled people back in their career” before a particular serve.

This has angered the tennis world, as Bublik not only called Thiem ‘disabled’, but he also made fun of a major injury that can be considered below the belt. However, it is also true that tennis matches are always very intense, and that often gets the best of many players. In this case, it probably happened to Alexander Bublik.

Dominic Thiem ended up winning his first-round match against Alexander Thiem 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in straight sets. With this, he eased into the second rounds without any problem whatsoever and will now face USA’s Ben Shilton in the second round.

Ben Shilton has a career-high men’s singles ranking of 35, which shows that he will not be an easy opponent for Dominic Thiem and that it is going to be a highly competitive match.

It should not be forgotten that the Austrian International won the only Grand Slam of his career so far in the 2020 US Open, which was fairly recently. Thus, his record in this tournament is impeccable, and he must not be taken lightly. He has immense experience at the highest level, and although he is not a seeded player in this edition of the tournament, he is a major threat for everyone.
