In the world of sports, records are broken every other day. Even the greatest player’s record gets broken one way or another. And that’s exactly what Alexander Zverev and Daniil Medvedev recently did, as they broke a long-standing record of tennis great and 20-time Grand Slam title champion Roger Federer.

for context, Roger Federer had a unique record for the most number of matches against former tennis player David Ferrer without meeting in any Major tournament. They had a record of 17 matches, but recently, the ATP draw matched Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev to play their 18th match against each other, surpassing Federer’s record. The two have faced each other 17 other times, of which five matches were played this year alone.

Surprisingly, these two top-ranked players have not met each other in a major tournament so far. Federer has also played 16 matches against Ivan Ljubicic, and none of those matches were in the Majors.

Both Medvedev and Zverev have done well so far this year, and fans will await their showdown as they bring a lot of fire and skill to the court, making each point worthy of watching.

Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev head-to-head record

The German returning star, Alexander Zverev, has all eyes on his performance, as the German has been climbing the ranks since he returned. On the other end, Daniil Medvedev has consistently maintained his position as one of the top players in the world.

The two have faced each other a total of 17 times, with Daniil Medvedev winning 10 of those meetings. In 2023 alone, the two faced each other a total of five times, with Medvedev winning four of those times.

The Germans beat Medvedev in the 2023 Cincinnati Masters 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 but their latest encounter was won by the world number 3 in China. Medvedev easily brushed through Zverev 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals of the Beijing Open.

However, the two have yet to face each other on the grand stage. With that being said, fans will be keeping a close eye on them as they continue their impressive reign in the tennis world.

Along with Alexander Zverev and Medvedev, they are joined by the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev in their group. The ATP Finals are within the eyesight of players as they prepare to take on the other players in their groups to try and end the year on a high.
