Tennis star Alexander Zverev has denied assault charges made by his ex-girlfriend, Brenda Patea. The German player has been fined €450,000 by the German court for his alleged behavior. However, the world no. 9 has vowed to contest the fine and plead his innocence.
Patea, with whom the tennis star has a child, has accused Zverev of physically and emotionally abusing her during their relationship. She has specifically accused the German of causing her bodily harm and injury during an argument in May 2020.
The German ATP icon rejected the charges and has filed an objection to the order, which means he is still legally innocent and will not be punished until the case is resolved.
I think it’s complete bullshit. Anybody that has a semi-standard IQ level knows what this is all about.Zverev said, while speaking about the allegations with Times
The ATP Tour conducted an independent investigation in 2021 when claims were made by another one of Zverev’s ex-partners Olya Sharypova of repeated abuse by the German. They looked into the matter and had come up with “insufficient evidence“.
The allegations against Zverev have come as a shock to the tennis world. The German player is one of the most promising young players on the tour and is widely considered a future Grand Slam champion.
If the allegations against Zverev are proven to be true, it could have a devastating impact on his career. However, Zverev has maintained his innocence and has vowed to clear his name.
