“The chance always exist, there always was,” Alexander Zverev invites speculation to appoint Boris Becker as coach after the German’s latest stint with Holger Rune

Just a week after German legendary coach Boris Becker ended his collaboration with Holger Rune, there are speculations that he might become Alexander Zverev‘s coach. During an interview with the German Press Agency, the Australian Open semifinalist admitted there is always a chance for it to happen.

In recent years, Alexander Zverev has become a major contender for Grand Slam titles. This year, he defeated Carlos Alcaraz to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open. 

For the past two years, the German has also reached the French Open semifinals and would be hoping to win it this year, but with the help of the experienced Becker. 

For the uninitiated, Boris Becker won six Grand Slam titles during his playing days and coached Novak Djokovic. That’s not all, he also guided him to his first Major title in the 2008 Australian Open. 

If you think about bringing in someone like Boris, it’s to win the big tournaments. And of course, the coach has to be there at the big tournaments.

However, Becker is not allowed to enter Australia, England, or the United States because of his two-and-a-half-year insolvency offenses. The 56-year-old cannot go to the Australian Open or take part in Wimbledon or major US events. But he could partake in the French Open, which was a window of opportunity for Zverev.

Alexander Zverev will compete at the Los Cabos ATP 250 tournament with the likes of other top players. The competition, which starts on February 19, will see Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, and Casper Ruud form one of the best draws of the tournament in Mexico.

The eighth edition of the Los Cabos tournament will take center stage at the Carbo Sports Complex, with Stefanos Tsitsipas seeking to defend his title. Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev is the favorite to win the title following his impressive performance at the 2024 Australian Open.

Australian Alex de Minuar, who reached the final of the last edition, will take the top five seed in World No. 35. Chris Eubanks will be a visitor at the tournament, hoping he can prove that his 2023 Wimbledon run to the quarterfinals wasn’t a joke.
