After suffering a ligament injury in the French Open semi-finals against Rafael Nadal this year, Alexander Zverev hasn’t been able to come back from that injury ever since, due to the injury, Zverev missed out on participating at this year’s Wimbledon as well and the German professional hoped that the situation would change but his injuries still seem to be a hindrance for him.

Being one of the most consistent players in the world, Alexander Zverev reached the only Grand Slam final of his career at the US Open in 2020. He fell short to Dominic Thiem that year, he also had a good run at last year’s US Open as he reached the semi-finals of the tournament but was unfortunately eliminated by one of the greatest players of all time, Novak Djokovic.

10 days ago in an interview, Zverev said, “Although it will be very, very close. Maybe I could say I’m ready. Best-of-five is difficult, Every day it really gets better. That’s why I don’t want to say yet that I won’t play the US Open.

But things have changed as it has been officially confirmed that the world number 2 will not be competing at this year’s US Open and he adds to the list of other big stars who will be missing this tournament. There is some good news, however as Alexander Zverev’s agent named the Davis Cup finals as his comeback tournament.
