Los Angeles Lakers faced Indiana Pacers in the final of the first-ever In-Season tournament organized by the NBA.
The Lakers won the match by a scoreline of 123-109, lifting the title and thereby becoming the inaugural champions. The star players for Lakers in the final were Austin Reaves and James, who scored 28 and 24 points in the match, respectively. But the main man who got the job done for the Showtime Lakers was Anthony Davis, who racked up a total of 41 points for his side.
How did the Lakers won the Inaugural In Season Tournament?
With a new tournament on the rise, all the NBA top teams had to chance to lift the first-ever In-Season Tournament. The 30 teams were divided into six total groups in the form of West Groups A, B, and C and East Groups A, B, and C.
With the Lakers being drawn in the West Group A alongside the Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Memphis Grizzlies, it was much more than just a one-sided group.
But the team from LA pulled off four wins out of four in the group stages, qualifying straightway to the quarter-finals. The Lakes then faced off against the Suns who qualified via the two second-best teams qualifiers and defeated the side from Phoenix by a margin of 106-103.
Then they faced a tough challenge against the West Group B group toppers New Orleans Pelicans beating them comfortably by 133-89. In the final, yet again, LA dominated the Pacers and lifted the title.
