American rising WTA star Alycia Parks has strengthened her coaching team ahead of the much-awaited Sunshine Doubles. The 23-year-old has signed WTA star Naomi Osaka‘s former coach Sascha Bajin as her head coach ahead of the 2024 Indian Wells and Miami Open.
While Parks did not make any official announcement about the same, the 23-year-old revealed her partnership with Bajin during an Instagram Q&A session. When Parks was asked if she is working with the German, the 23-year-old just shared a picture with Bajin.
The 23-year-old was also asked about how she feels working with the German. Parks said that they have a great understanding.
Notably, Sascha Bajin helped Naomi Osaka climb the ladder of success. However, as the Japanese parted ways with the Germans shortly after winning her 2019 Australian Open title, Bajin joined hands with Karolina Plsikova. This partnership also ended soon with the two parting ways in July last year. Now, Bajin has joined hands with Parks.
Alycia Parks would hope to streamline her career with Sascha Bajin
Bringing Sascha Bajin as the head coach would definitely help Alycia Parks who has been struggling to go deeper in tournaments. The 23-year-old has suffered five consecutive first-round exits so far this season. The best Parks has managed in the 2024 season is a third-round qualification at the 2024 Australian Open.
Out of the seven tournaments played this season, Parks has suffered a first-round exit in six. Now, having someone as experienced as Bajin on board, the 23-year-old would hope to streamline her career.
The German, who was named the WTA Coach of the Year in 2018, has shown what he can do with a player who has the potential. Parks is also known as a player who possesses immense potential. It is to be seen if Bajin is able to repeat what he did with Osaka or if the American will have to seek someone else’s guidance.
