Alycia Parks hilariously accuses her team of trying to “cheer too much” and distracting her during her game against Leylah Fernandez. The unseeded American defeated Leyla Fernandez in the second round of the Australian Open in straight sets.

While distractions to the players from the stands are not at all uncommon for tennis players, the 23-year-old had a rather hilarious distraction during the match.

Her distraction came from her own player box, where her team was trying to cheer her on too much. The American revealed that she had requested that her team slow down and let her think.

The important points I just kept telling my team to slow down and let me think. They were trying to cheer too much.
She said.

While support from the player box is always welcome by the players, the interference was a bit too distracting in Parks’ case.

I was like, slow down, I'm nervous too. But they did a great job.
Said the American.

Parks assured that her team’s support was well received at the end of the day. Despite the distractions, Parks turned out victorious, defeating her opponent in straight sets.

The World No. 21 was upset by Parks when all eyes were on her, as she hoped to register a debut third-round appearance at the Australian slam. However, it was ultimately the American who would move on to the next round.

Parks will face her compatriot, Coco Gauff, in the third round of the Australian Open. The 19-year-old American is still basking in her US Open title-winning campaign.

With that being said, it seems like fans will have to wait to find out if Gauff will continue the winning streak or if the 23-year-year will continue her successful campaign.
