Amarissa Toth blames Shuai Zhang for making a ‘Fuss and inviting trouble’ for herself after their controversial match in Budapest
Amarissa Toth had finally taken to the post-match conference talking about the incident during her match against Shuai Zhang.
Just a week after the Wimbledon Championships had finally commenced, the Hungarian Open took off, with Chinese star Shuai Zhang taking over home girl Amarissa Kiara Toth right in the first round. The main incident that has got the whole world talking about is when Toth won an illegitimate point when scores were tied 5-5 in the first set and Zhang was protesting against the chair umpire, to take a look at where the ball exactly dropped for one more time.
Even after Shuai Zhang won the next point, the thought about her losing the last point kept moving around her head disrupting her focus. She was going back and forth, and kept talking again and again to the referee about it. In between this, Toth was seen wiping the lines off the court which left Zhang absolutely hurt and broke her from within. She went to her chair after that and this even caused a panic attack with several doctors checking on her after that.
Toth had finally taken to the post-match conference saying, “I didn’t understand why she made such a fuss out of it, that she wanted to overrule the judge’s decision. I don’t understand why she didn’t accept it, but she made trouble for herself.” This poor sportsmanship behavior of the Hungarian has left the whole world slamming her with several tennis players has risen in favor of Zhang.
How has Shuai Zhang suffered for the last few months?
Zhang has been suffering from a string of reasons and she hasn’t looked great on the court in recent months as well as being on 14 match losing streak in singles.
She has been away from her country for like three years now having continuously played one tournament or the other in the hope of finding her form back. She is mentally unhappy and her physicality shows the proof for it clearly not being her 100 percent in the last few games she has played.
Quite a few weeks ago at the French Open, she broke down in tears while answering a couple of questions at the post-match conference. Once the highest-ranked player in her country, she was not picked for the Chinese tennis team to represent at the Tokyo Olympics way back in 2021. She opted to play at the Wimbledon Championships that year, which was just 11 days prior to the Olympics despite the Chinese Federation asking her not to participate.
