American Andre Agassi is regarded as one of the legends of the sport. He was the last player before the Big-3 to complete a career slam and has won 8 major titles in his illustrious career. Agassi had a very different and jolly charisma on the court. His outgoing attitude was loved by many, but he also infamously got involved with chair umpires and fellow players over petty issues.

In 1997, Agassi married renowned American actress Brooke Shields, but due to various issues, they fell apart and got divorced in 1999. Agassi, in 2018, opened up about that phase of his life. Speaking on ‘Team Never Quit‘, Agassi revealed that he was in a very dark place even when he won. He wasn’t satisfied with what he was doing and didn’t see any meaning in it.

The truth is, every time I won, I was letting on this dirty little secret that it doesn’t change anything. You are still expected to go out there and do the same thing next day, be judged for what you are and what you aren’t.

It was all a bit of a whirlwind for me. I was so disheartened with it all that I just hoped being no.1 is fulfilling what my father always wanted me to do. Which sort of answers that disconnect and I never forget the day I became No.1. I actually felt nothing.
Agassi said

Due to all this, he wasn’t able to focus on tennis and fell out of the Top 100 just because he didn’t have the motivation to compete. He sought help with drugs and even his marriage wasn’t giving him the satisfaction it should give.

I really started an inward spiral. I completely gave up tennis inside the lines, fell to no. 141, found myself in a marriage I didn’t wanna be in, and found myself using recreational drugs to the point of destroying my body.
Agassi said

After all this, Agassi finally married fellow tennis ace and 22-time major champion Stefi Graff in 2001. The couple is still happily married and are parents to two beautiful children Jaden Gil Agassi and Jaz Elle Agassi.
