With the second season of the Pickleball Slam getting underway next year in February, last year’s winner Andre Agassi has confirmed his teammate. He will team up with Steffi Graf against John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova will all eyes for a second title in consecutive years. This year, way back in April Agassi featured in the competition with tennis legend Andy Roddick.
Thepickleballslam recently released a video on Instagram where Agassi revealed the surprise. He was joined by Steffi Graf in the video with Agassi saying, “I wanna introduce you to my new partner, Steffi Graf.” The post read, “@agassi reveals his secret weapon and better half Stefanie Graf, as he builds the dream team that will face McEnroe and Sharapova at the Pickleball Slam 2 at Hardrockholly on February 4th. Get your tix now!”
Graf was super excited as well to feature in the competition as she spoke, “Hey guys, super excited. Hey Maria, hi John. Really looking forward to see you guys. We’re getting ready. we’re working hard, so you’ve got to bring your A-game like Andre said, Last year was such a blast, I can only imagine we’re gonna have a great, great time. So, really looking forward to seeing you down at the Hardrock.”
How will Andre Agassi and others fare at the upcoming competition?
In the previous season of the Pickleball Slam, Andy Roddick was on the side of Agassi with the duo beating John McEnroe and Michael Chang. This year it will be far more competitive and balanced with all four of the competitors amongst the Hall of Famers of tennis.
With couple Steffi and Agassi already proven their worth in the grandest stage, it will be interesting to see how the real-life couple pair together against a young Sharapova and experienced MnEnroe.
Agassi had a lot of say ahead of the second season saying, “After Andy and I took home the hardware at the first Pickleball Slam, I said I would be playing pickleball as long as I can walk—that’s how much I enjoy this game. Naturally, I am so excited to share this experience with one of the best tennis players, my wife.” After suffering a defeat last year, McEnroe has put his trust in the five-time Grand Slam winner in the hope of winning the title this year.
