Russian tennis star Andrey Rublev got irritated by the sound of a spectator eating during his match against Adrian Mannarino at the 2023 Shanghai Masters. The 25-year-old then complained about it to the chair umpire, who eventually asked the spectator to stop eating. The clip of the entire episode has gone viral on social media.

In the 16-second-long clip, Rublev is seen complaining about something to the chair umpire before he gets ready to serve. The umpire then asks someone in the crowd to stop eating. “Can you please stop eating? Thank you!” the chair umpire is heard saying.

Andrey Rublev eyeing a first quarterfinal qualification in Shanghai and his second ATP 1000 title this year

Andrey Rublev has had an on-and-off season so far in 2023. While he clinched the Monte-Carlo Masters after defeating Holger Rune, he missed out on three chances to make his first semifinal at a Grand Slam. He crashed out of the 2023 US Open after losing to compatriot Daniil Medvedev. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old Russian always kept his spirit high.

Rublev has started perfectly at the Shanghai Masters, winning his first two matches in dominant fashion. While the Russian beat Quentin Halys in straight sets of 6-4, 7-5 in his second-round match, he eased past another Frenchman, Mannarino, in the third round. Rublev beat Mannarino 6-3, 6-0 to cruise into the pre-quarterfinals. He will face Tommy Paul in the fourth round.

Rublev is eyeing a first-quarterfinal qualification at the Shanghai Masters considering he has managed to progress only to the third round in three attempts so far. However, this year, the Russian has broken the third-round jinx and looks all set to make it to the last 16 for the first time. If all goes well, Rublev might meet Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals.

The Russian will have a herculean task ahead of himself if he has to win his second ATP 1000 title in 2023. If he manages to beat the Spaniard, Rublev might have to face Jannik Sinner in the summit clash.
