Andrey Rublev is set to face Daniil Medvedev in an all-Russian finals at Dubai

After a series of wins under his name, Andrey Rublev is set to face his fellow countryman, Daniil Medvedev. Although Rublev had a mediocre season so far, he will give his best to defend the title here in Dubai. Having won the last two matches against Medvedev will also boost his confidence going into the finals. However, Medvedev is looking in red-hot form as he will be coming into the finals with a win against Novak Djokovic.

Talking about the finals, Rublev said, “I mean, with Daniil, it’s going to be basically, if I’m going to play Daniil, it’s going to be maybe 30 shots one rally. Daniil is similar. Daniil is like to be the one that counterattack, wait for the right moment. I mean, I’m happy that I was stable today mentally, especially on the tiebreak that I was able to be there, to play well. So we’ll see what’s going to happen.”

While Medvedev will be looking to make it three titles in three weeks, Rublev will be trying to defend his title. Therefore, it will be an even clash between the two top players in the contest. However, on paper, Medvedev is looking slightly ahead of Rublev.
