Andrey Rublev may have lost the finals of the Shanghai Masters against Hubert Hurkacz, but he definitely won the hearts of the tennis fans all over. Despite losing the match in a close encounter, he showed a class act by praising the Polish for having an amazing journey so far.

Andrey Rublev, in the presentation ceremony, congratulated Hubert Hurkacz for winning his second Masters 1000 title. The Russian further added, “I’d like to congratulate Hubi for an amazing tournament, for a second Masters title.”

Hubert Hurkacz overcame Andrey Rublev in an exciting 3-set thriller to clinch his second Masters 1000 title. Both the players were looking confident going into the 3rd and final set of the match. Hubert did not lose his nerve and held a championship point against Rublev. In an intense tiebreak in the deciding set, The Polish emerged victorious, winning the match, 3-6,6-3,7(10)-6(8).

Andrey Rublev looked quite frustrated with himself over the missed opportunities. However, he did not let these emotions get the better of him as he only praised Hubert Hurkacz during the presentation ceremony. Rublev stated, “We’ve been together on the same team at Laver Cup. We played doubles together. I really enjoyed playing doubles with you. Hopefully, you’ll do only better & better & win more titles.”

Hubert Hurkacz wins his 2nd Masters 1000 title

The Polish won the second Masters 1000 title of his career, defeating Andrey Rublev in an intense final of the Shanghai Masters. It is his first Masters 1000 title since Miami in 2021. He now has seven ATP titles overall.

Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev recently played alongside each other during the Laver Cup in Canada last month. Both played extremely well, not giving up so easily.
