Everyone is aware of the immense pressure tennis players face after reaching a certain age to perform. After losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round of Wimbledon Andy Murray was quick to receive a lot of hate about the match and how he should retire from tennis.

A few of them blamed the tournament for their curfew of 11 pm to stop the matches and continue the next day which led to Andy losing his rhythm and momentum. Andy faced off against Stefanos in a gruesome match of five-setters which ended in Andy suffering a tough loss. The end score was 6-7(3-7), 7-6(7-2), 4-6, 7-6(7-3), 6-4 for the Greek.

Fans are always quick to react and comment on a player’s win or loss whether it’s to support them or drag them down. Now the fans have been pounding Andy Murray after his loss in the second round asking him to quit tennis forever.

The other side of this blames the tournament by saying Andy lost his rhythm and momentum due to the 11 pm curfew which made them suspend the match and continue the next day. Wimbledon this year has been receiving major backlash for their scheduling, open roof and bad media management. Twitter users called the 11 pm curfew ‘Stupid’.

Murray is the only British player, male or female, to have won Wimbledon more than once in the Open Era and after his heartbreaking exit from the tournament, Andy refused to confirm whether he will return next year.
