Andy Murray believes Cameron Norrie can pull off a win against ‘six-time champion’ Novak Djokovic in the semis of Wimbledon 2022

Three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray recently backed Cameron Norrie to pull off an upset against Novak Djokovic as both of them face each other on the Centre Court in the 2022 Wimbledon semi-finals today. Murray believes that Norrie has what it takes to beat Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals and is looking forward to the match.

Murray was full of praise for Norrie as he beat Belgian international David Goffin in the Wimbledon quarter-finals by 3-6, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in a five-set thriller. Norrie faces Novak Djokovic who is no easy opponent for him being one of the best players in the world and one who hasn’t lost in Wimbledon for five and is the current favorite to go on and win the title.

Cameron Norrie’s career trajectory only looks to be going up and it is difficult to predict how high he will end up in the rankings in the future. Murray said, “He (Cameron Norrie) has been doing really well for the last year really and this result is kind of an accumulation of all his hard work and his attitude and everything he puts into Tennis. He is a great professional, he gets the most out of his game and he and his team have worked extremely hard to get him into this position and he deserves it because of the results he’s had in the last 12 months.”

Mentioning Djokovic, Murray said “Novak is obviously one of the best players in the world, I read that he hasn’t lost here (Wimbledon) since 2017, six-time champion and he got through a really tough one in the last round. Norrie is obviously ranked around the same as Sinner, so it’s obviously an unbelievably difficult challenge to beat someone like Novak in a slam is not easy, but Cam (Norrie) is playing well and he will be confident.”

“I don’t believe that you get into the top positions in the world without working extremely hard. You would hope every player would be like that and try to get the most out of themselves like Cam, but that isn’t the case with everybody,” said Murray further.
