British legend Andy Murray gave his views on the qualities of the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, which makes him distinct and powerful. Murray always had high praise for Alcaraz even before the Spanish World No.1 broke into the top of the rankings. He even predicted way back in 2021 that Alcaraz will be a future World No.1 player.

Recently, Murray said about the qualities that make Alcaraz special, “The thing that I love about watching him is just the freedom that he plays with and part of that is youth I think. I just hope he doesn’t lose that. That’s the one thing I would love to just see him continue to play that sort of style of tennis that he plays with. The drop shots or serve-volleys. Sometimes it looks a little bit Kamikaze, but he just is totally instinctive. And I love that.

The Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz will be aiming to peak for the biggest prize in Flushing Meadows and become the first player to retain the US Open Men’s singles title since Roger Federer in 2008. With No Rafael Nadal, the best player of the US Open in the last decade, this year is expected to be a tight competition among the former champions including Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.

The Russian World No.3 Daniil Medvedev always plays his best tennis in the North-American hard court swing. This year also, the same is expected by tennis fans. With Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tistsipas, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune, and Casper Ruud awaiting to clinch their first Grand Slam title ever, a blockbuster season awaits at the top of the men’s game.

Alcaraz will start off his proceedings for the hard court season with an opener against Ben Shelton in the Canadian Open. As Novak Djokovic is not playing in the tournament, Alcaraz is the top favorite here.
