British tennis star Andy Murray who is back in New York for the 2023 US Open said he is ready to don the coach’s hat for the defending champions at the tournament- Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek. Murray also shared the rationale behind his choices. The Briton thinks these two players are good people and hence he can think about coaching them.
Murray also said that as both Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek are still pretty young, there is room for improvement and he would love to help them improve. The Briton, who himself has won three Grand Slam titles, said that it would be fun coaching these two players. Talking about Alcaraz, he said that he has all the shots and is coachable.
“It’s a pretty boring answer but I would have to say (Carlos) Alcaraz. Just because, one, I think it would be great fun as he seems pretty coachable, and has all the shots. On the women’s side, I would say (Iga) Swiatek. They are both brilliant, I love watching them, they both seem like really nice and good people. And they are still young so they can learn a lot,” said Murray.
Who would Andy Murray pick as his doubles partner?

Now, coming to Andy Murray’s 2023 US Open campaign, the 2021 champion will open his campaign against Frenchman Corentin Moutet. Murray said that he has made the necessary tweaks to his game and is ready to go deep into the tournament.
“I really feel like I needed to make a change to certain shots in my game if I wanted to win more of those matches and dictate more of those matches,” said Murray. “So I did that, went away, and worked on things for a period of time.”
