Andy Murray in his intelligent but quirky humor responded to an adorable interview piece of Mirra Adreva. Recently Mirra Andreeva praised the ex-World No. 1 saying “He is so beautiful“. The Tennis Letter posted an interview of the 16-year-old talking about the coolest thing about being in an event of this scale. The young Russian said, “When you’re here & take a lunch with all these stars, you see Andy Murray… you see his face & he’s so beautiful in life. He is so amazing“.
When the 3 time Grand Slam Murray saw the post, he brought out his funny joke book to poke fun at the Russian while also praising her game. “Imagine how good she’s going to be when she gets her eyes fixed”, said the 36-year-old British.
Mirra Andreeva has had a great success story in the ongoing Madrid Open which is straight out of a fairytale. She has defeated big names and high-ranked players to reach the round of 16 in the Madrid Open. She defeated Leylah Fernandez in Round 1, world no. 14, Beatriz Haddad Maia, in Round 2, and world no. 19 Magda Linette in the 3rd round. Now she will be taking world no. 2 Aryna Sabalenka head-on in the Round of 16. It would be very interesting to see if Mirra is able to produce another upset in the Madrid Open.
Mirra Andreeva’s success at the Madrid Open can be mirrored to Andy Murray‘s Madrid Open run in 2008. Though 15 years apart, it was only the second Masters trophy for Murray. And on his way to winning the trophy he defeated some tough competitors like Juan Del Potro, Gael Monfils and even world no. 2 at the time Roger Federer.
A quite star-struck Andreeva had also given in an interview to WTA on her experience at a 1000 event. She said “Here almost every day I see Andy Murray, Daniil Medvedev, and all the players from home. They say hi to me and I’m like, ‘Wow, how come they know me?’”
