After saving five match points against Jiri Lehecka in the semifinals, the Brit was coming off of another thrilling three-set encounter.

Murray has had a monumental 2023 season. In the Australian Open, he played two lengthy five-setters to go through the third round of the major tournament. Murray defied all odds to proceed to the final in Qatar, aiming to win his first title since 2019. Unfortunately, the aspirant failed to do so, as Medvedev clinched his second title in two weeks.

However, Murray once again showed a stunning display of his experience and excellent net game. During the last set, Medvedev made a high-speed serve, to which Murray hit a volley.

Medvedev moved toward the net to intercept it and hit the ball straight down the court. The Russian then attempted a series of backhand slices at the net, in order to force the two-time Grand Slam champion all over the court. However, Medvedev failed to do so, as Murray displayed his outstanding footwork and incredible defense skills.

Much to the excitement of the crowd, Murray quickly turned from the defense to the offense and hit the ball flat across the court. The crowd applauded this exciting bit of tennis from both players. As a result, Andy was able to break but eventually failed to win the match. On the other hand, Medvedev took home his second consecutive title in 2023.
