The seven-time doubles Grand Slam title winner and the elder brother of Andy Murray, Jamie Murray, has been given a new responsibility, but this time off the court.

The former doubles World No. 1 player is all set to play a prestigious role at the Queen’s Club in London before the Wimbledon Championship kicks off.

Jamie Murray is to be the tournament director of the Cinch Championships and will be in charge of the ATP 500 event that takes place at the famous Queen’s Club in London. This tournament is the precursor to generating a build-up to the most popular Grand Slam and tennis event, Wimbledon.

The 37-year-old tennis player is not retiring from the sport but is only taking on additional responsibility as the tournament director at the Queen’s Club. However, the British tennis player will not be able to compete in that event or the events a week before it for the sole purpose of finalizing the arrangements and smooth functioning of the tournament.

Jamie Murray was delighted to be given this opportunity by the LTA and expressed his genuine interest in the management and event handling sides of things apart from the sport. 

He has already been the tournament director for the Murray Trophy and was recently involved in organizing the Battle of the Brits tournament. He has quite some experience managing and smoothly conducting tennis tournaments.

The British tennis player has expressed his gratitude for getting the opportunity to serve as the tournament director for a build-up tournament before the Wimbledon Championships at the Queen’s Club in London in 2024. 

It’s a real honour to be given this opportunity by the LTA, to work on such a prestigious and well-regarded tournament with the event team during the year, supporting the development and growth of the cinch Championships.

Jamie Murray has had a solid career as a doubles player so far. Apart from winning seven doubles Grand Slam titles, he has also been the No. 1 doubles player and spent nine weeks at the top of the charts. The British have 31 career titles and are currently ranked 18th in the world.
