“It’s always been a holy trinity” – Andy Murray’s inclusion in the same bracket as Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic has fans divided
Fans have always considered Andy Murray an outsider whenever the talk of Big 4 has come into place, with many even rating him below Wawrinka.

Tennis fans across the world have always been debating between Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal as to who is the ultimate GOAT. However, people always seem to forget one name that has also produced some great performances in the last decade: Andy Murray. The Brit is also considered unlucky to have been born in the era of the Big 3.
Tennis fans have always considered him an outsider whenever the talk of the Big 4 has come into place, with many even rating him below Wawrinka, who has also won the same amount of Grand Slams as the Brit.
However, it would be a shame to undermine a player who has given so much to the sport. And had it not been for the three greats, he would have stacked up many more Slams by now.
With just Novak Djokovic playing in this year’s Wimbledon and despite losing in the first round of the 2023 Cinch Championships, Andy Murray might still get a chance to play on the grass courts. With that being said, it seems like this is the end of an era for the modern greats. It is very unlikely that there will ever be a more competitive force like these four players have shown for the last 10 to 15 years.
2023 Wimbledon: The end of an absolute era or the start of the new generations?
With Wimbledon just a week away, the talks about the favorites going into the tournament have started yet again, and this time fans are a bit emotional. Things had taken a different toll since Federer retired, with an entire generation of supporters putting their interests to rest. Furthermore, now that Nadal is out of the tournament due to his injuries, the chances of a new champion have increased massively.
Sharing a wider spectrum of reactions online, here’s what fans have to say:
There are many prospects and prodigies coming up who will no doubt rule the tennis world for the next few years, and Carlos Alcaraz and Holgar Rune are two of the best on that list. The main news would be if Djokovic failed to retain the Wimbledon title, which would in turn hand the world a new champion of the grass courts after 15 long years.
