Former American tennis ace Andy Roddick has taken a jibe at former American president Donald Trump after the latter claimed that his Mar-a-Lago property is worth $1.5 billion. Roddick congratulated Trump for such a high valuation of his property and then asked the former president to pay his taxes.

Notably, Donald Trump claimed that he is worth far more than financial figures cited in New York Judge Arthur Engoron’s ruling last week indicate. He also accused New York Attorney General Letitia James who has filed a lawsuit against Trump of committing fraud for Political and Election Interference reasons.

Later, during his appearance in the New York court, Trump reiterated his claims about the worth of his Mar-a-Lago property. The former president said that it is worth $1.5 billion and not between $427 million and $612 million, as claimed by Engoron. This led to a criticism for Trump who was trolled on social media with users sharing the video of him making the claim.

Joining the bandwagon, Roddick commented under one such user’s post on X that had Trump’s video from the court. “Great. I’m sure he will have no issue paying taxes like it’s valued at that number then,” wrote Roddick. “Also, it was a billion by his measure just yesterday. Some serious appreciation in 24 hours,” he added.

What is this controversy around Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property?

Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate has been always surrounded by controversy. While it was raided by the FBI back in August 2022 over missing documents from the White House, it is being claimed that the property’s value is being inflated by Trump to drop a fraud case. There has been a whole lot of debate going around about the actual valuation of the property.

The case is still under review and Trump is trying his best to prove that his property is worth $1.5 billion. Notably, the Mar-a-Lago club was valued at between $18 million and $27.6 million from 2011-2021. However, Trump valued Mar-a-Lago at between $426.5 million and $612 million, “an overvaluation of at least 2,300%”.

It is to be seen what comes out as the actual valuation of the property. Meanwhile, for those unversed, Trump acquired the Mar-a-Lago in 1985 as a full-time residence. He turned it into a club in 1995 and has been using it the same ever since. However, he moved to Mar-a-Lago after he lost to 2020 presidential elections.
