Andy Roddick comments on former Vice President Mike Pence’s statement on Donald Trump. The GOP’s first 2024 presidential debate saw Mike Pence and fellow candidate Vivek Ramaswamy engage in heated sparring.
The debate consisted of Vivek Ramaswamy asking Pence if he would grant pardon to the former president if he was convicted of all the 91 criminal charges against him. Pence did not give a straight answer and said, “Let’s have the former president have his day in court. Let’s maintain a presumption of innocence.”
Trump currently faces cases of federal and state election subversion, retention of classified information, alleged rape, and defamation. However, he is still contesting the elections of 2024. Roddick has always voiced his opinion on social and political issues and has even called out Pence before for his controversial pro-life statements.
This time he took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to raise his voice against a pardon for Trump if Pence becomes president. He wrote, “Pence says we need strong law enforcement. ….. also says he’d pardon a president if they were convicted of federal crimes. Make that make sense.“
He also continued the discourse with people in the comment section. One tweet read that it’s better for the nation to move on, and if we charge Trump, then we will have to do it for everyone.
Roddick replied to this tweet by stating that he was amazed that people are fine with letting crimes go in a country of law and order. He later tweeted in the same thread, “Sure. I am happy for everyone to be held accountable if crimes were committed. What I’m not okay with is the flawed logic of “other crimes have been committed too, so oh well.“
Andy Roddick defends Carlos Alcaraz after a hand cramp
Andy Roddick has recently started giving his commentary and analysis on the Tennis Channel. The former World No. 1 shared his opinions on Carlos Alcaraz’s hand cramping at the finals of the Cincinnati Open against Novak Djokovic. Alcaraz completed the match but lost to Djokovic 5-7, 7-6(7), 7-6(4). The 20-year-old had faced a similar issue before as well.
The Spaniard experienced a full-body cramp at the French Open semifinals against Djokovic. He was criticized for not taking care of his body and maintaining his health, especially against an older player. However, Roddick came to his defense by saying, “Let’s give some fair context. Novak didn’t have his body completely figured out when he was 20 years old either, right?”He further added that we need to give Carlos the appropriate amount of time to figure out his body.
