Former American tennis ace Andy Roddick had a one-word response to Ohio legalizing recreational marijuana. As the voters of Ohio approved a ballot measure to legalize recreational marijuana, making it the 24th state to embrace legalization, Roddick could just say a two-letter word. Notably, almost 57% of the citizens favored the measure and hence it was passed without any hassle.

The former World No.1 sighed an ‘Oh’ after Issue 2 was approved by the citizens. This means people age 21 and over in the state will be able to buy and possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis, and grow, or sell marijuana under a regulation-and-tax program imposed by the state. The measure takes effect in 30 days.

This bold decision from the people of Ohio prompted a response from Andy Roddick. The former tennis ace wrote “OH” on his social media handle.

The premise for passing this measure is that marijuana should be regulated by alcohol. The state of Ohio also sees the monetary benefits that come with this bold move. The state will collect a 10% tax on purchases which will be spent on administrative costs, addiction treatment, municipalities with dispensaries, and social equity and jobs programs supporting the industry itself.

Ohio also agrees to protect abortion rights

The citizens of Ohio also created history as they approved a constitutional amendment on Tuesday that ensures access to abortion and other forms of reproductive health care. This comes a year after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on the same matter.

With this Ohio became the seventh state where voters decided to protect abortion access after the landmark ruling and was the only state to consider a statewide abortion rights question this year. Heather Williams, interim president of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, which works to elect Democrats to state legislatures, said the vote in favor of abortion rights was a “huge victory.”

Ohio’s resounding support for this constitutional amendment reaffirms Democratic priorities and sends a strong message to the state GOP that reproductive rights are non-negotiable.

Heather Williams said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris also issued statements celebrating the amendment’s win. The Vice President also hinted that this will be the ruling party’s central point in the next elections.
