The women’s tennis circuit was very competitive for a few years in between until Ashleigh Barty took over the reins and dominated the circuit. However, after the Australian’s shock retirement, Iga Swiatek took up the reins and was crowned the new World No.1 soon after. The Polish star has been majorly dominant on tour winning back to back WTA Masters titles and dominating the circuit.

But apart from that, there are several players with high rankings who have not managed to win a Grand Slam. Players like Paula Badosa who is World No.2 right now is yet to win a Grand Slam. Similarly, players like Aryna Sabalenka ranked fourth in the world have not won a major title and it is the same for Greece’s Maria Sakkari who is ranked fifth in the world.

Then there are players like Anett Kontaveit, Karolina Pliskova, Danielle Collins and Ons Jabeur who are in the top 10 WTA rankings and have shown great potential but have not managed to open their accounts in terms of major titles. There are also consistent performers like Charleston Open winner Belinda Bencic and Madrid Open finalist Jessi Pegula who have not yet won a major title till now.

So when this topic was discussed, former World No.1 Andry Roddick share his opinion by looking at the list. He shared his opinion and picked the player he feels will be winning the Grand Slam first among them. When asked the question, Roddick said, “It is a very tough one, even though Badosa took an easy loss in Madrid i like her chances going into the Roland Garros because she is largely predictable. I think Jabeur has also put herself firmly in that equation. You also look at Sabalenka, two years ago this would have been the answer to this question.”

“I feel Pliskova has seen her best chances go by but we saw her play great tennis at Wimbledon last year. So it is like anybody’s guess. But I think Jabeur and Badosa are ahead as it pertains to this year’s Roland Garros,” Roddick added as he picked World No. 2 Paula Badosa and Madrid Open champion Ons Jabeur ahead of the pack of major less highest-ranked players in the women’s circuit.

Over the years it has been pretty crazy in the women’s singles circuit as there have been several shockers in different Grand Slams. Recently Emma Raducanu won ten games in the US Open and won the Grand Slam as a qualifier. Then Barbora Krejčíková shocked everyone by winning the Roland Garros. Then there was Sofia Kenin who bagged the Australian Open and Jelena Ostapenko won the French Open. So there have been instances of surprise in the Grand Slams and many people feel that there may be many players on this list who may miss out on the Grand Slam titles.
