2003 US Open champion and former World No. 1 American professional tennis player Andy Roddick lashed out at former US President Donald Trump over his controversial remarks aimed at US military officials. In a campaign rally in Iowa, the Republican frontrunner for the 2024 elections was met with raucous applause after he called out military officials, saying that they were “some of the dumbest people” he’s ever met.
The former tennis star also called out Trump’s supporters, saying, in a now-deleted post on social media site ‘X’, “I’m old enough to remember way back when this wouldn’t have gone over very well with most of the country.” Roddick has often taken to social media to express his disagreement with the views of the 45th President of the United States.
“I also remember when federal indictments, charity fraud, business fraud, and a conviction for sexual assault would’ve been disqualifying. What are we doing? And why?” he rhetorically asked, pointing towards Trump’s indictment by the Atlanta-based grand jury on August 14 on state charges stemming from his alleged efforts to overturn the former president’s 2020 electoral defeat.
Trump is slightly leading the incumbent president Joe Biden in the latest polls as his re-run is threatened by the federal charges.

Andy Roddick calls out Donald Tump over his comment on Hezbollah
Sharing his thoughts on the escalated conflict between Israel and Hezbollah after Hamas’ terrorist attack in Israel, Donald Trump called out Israeli PM Netanyahu, saying that he was caught cold by the terrorist attack in Israel’s south on October 7th. “He was not prepared, and Israel was not prepared,” Trump told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade in an interview clip. The former president went on to call the Iranian-supported terrorist organization Hezbollah “vicious” and “smart”.
These comments did not sit well with Roddick as he criticized Trump in a post shared on ‘X’. “Imagine calling Hezbollah smart, and the American military dumb in the same week whilst also leading the GOP primary by 50 points. Never thought I’d see the day. We used to have a series of non-negotiables,” he remarked.
