27-year-old Estonian Anett Kontaveit was scheduled to play her first-round match on the inside courts at Wimbledon 2023 but was moved to an outside court after rain delays, where there are no seats available and very few standing rows. Anett who was ranked No 2 in the world last year dropped from the ranking due to her injuries and is currently ranked 79 on tour.
Most of the outside courts in Wimbledon don’t have seats for sitting, though they do have rows for standing but very few.
So, it definitely came off as a shock when a former world No 2 player’s match was shifted to play on the outside to court number 6 where there were no seats available for the fans to watch her potentially last match at Wimbledon.

Anett Kontaveit is not disappointed and has no negative emotions
Despite the disappointing scheduling by Wimbledon forcing her to play on a court with no seats, after the rain delays, Anette expressed she has no negative emotions about this right now and she is going to focus on the win instead. Though she hopes she will get to play on a bigger court for her next match. ‘’I don’t feel disappointed right now, I just won my matches so no negative emotions from me right now. I do hope to get a big court next time,” said Anette.
All of her fans were looking forward to watching the Estonian play potentially her last match at Wimbledon after announcing her retirement. The fans expressed their emotions saying they can’t think of anything more disrespectful and Wimbledon shifting her match was the worst possible decision taken by them. Anette was seeded No 2 last year at the tournament and now being shifted to a court where there were seats made the fans angry.
Anette had an easy straight-set win against Italian Lucrezia Stefani with the score of 6-4 6-4 in the first round of Wimbledon and is set to play her second round against the Czech player Marie Bouzkova who is ranked higher than her at 32 on tour.
