Nick Kyrgios has smoothly navigated his way throughout his 2022 season. With the US Open just around the corner, experts take their pick for the prestigious grand slam title winner. Nick Kyrgios won the Citi Open a few weeks ago defeating Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Not only did he won the singles title, he claimed the doubles trophy as well with his partner Jack Sock. Kyrgios is looking to reach his consecutive grand slam final at the US Open after achieving the runner-up position at Wimbledon this year.

At Wimbledon, Kyrgios displayed his incredible form throughout the tournament but lost to Novak Djokovic in the finals who claimed his 21st grand slam title. Kyrgios is enjoying an amazing season. He reached the semifinals of Stuttgart open as well as the Halle Open. He has got enough wins in his bags to confidently perform at the US Open this year despite his challenging draw which includes top seeds like Robert Bautista Agut, Daniil Medvedev and Pablo Carreno Busta among others.

Australian tennis coach and expert, Wally Masur claims Kyrgios is a dangerous opponent. In the Australian Open podcast’s latest episode he said, “In any given match against any player in the draw of they had to play him round one, Nick would be my favourite.”

He further said, “He’s one of my favourites for the event. But he’ll have to play a bit more tennis than he played in Wimbledon. It’s hotter than it is at Wimbledon. He’ll have to play more tennis in the heat and that’s the great test.”

Kyrgios could potentially face his rival Daniil Medvedev in the fourth round. Medvedev is also the defending champion who claimed the title after his stunning win over Novak Djokovic last year. Nick Kyrgios has got a lot of hurdles in his fixture but his form this season might just help him reach far at the last grand slam of the year.
