19-year-old French man Arthul Fils gave some funny comments during the semi-final encounter against German Olympic Gold medalist Alexander Zverev in the Hamburg Open. The exchange of words with the umpire happened during the 8th game of the second set in the match, which was eventually won by Zverev. The final score was 6-2, 6-4.
It all happened when Alexander Zverev missed his first serve at 4-3 40-15 in the second set. But the serve was big enough to break the strings of the French teen. Since Fils lost the racket string, Zverev was given a first serve again. Then on the way to change the rackets, Fils said to the umpire, “He’s kicking my a**.”
Fils came to the match against Zverev with the confidence of beating the Norwegian World No.4 Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals. But the German was too strong for the French teen, who was solid in his service games and played the crucial points well to earn a straight-set victory. Nevertheless, Fils showed great fighting spirit during the whole tournament and will be trying to capitalize on the confidence gained in the upcoming hard-court swing.

Alexander Zverev will face Laslo Djere in the finals
It seems like the Alexander Zverev fans all have been missing since the tragic injury sustained during the French Open 2022 semifinal against Rafael Nadal, is finally back. As the German is still trying to figure out his best form, the first final appearance in an ATP tournament this year will give him the right confidence to keep going in the upcoming North American hard court season.
With a semi-final straight-set loss against Casper Ruud and a third-round defeat against the Italian “Hammer” Matteo Berrettini, both in straight sets, the German star will be trying to make a deeper run in the US Open this year. He has played his only Grand Slam final in the US Open, where he lost to Dominic Thiem after going up two sets in 2020.
With the best player at the US Open in the last decade – Rafael Nadal with 4 titles, missing this year’s US Open due to a hip injury, the odds are heavily in favor of his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz and his biggest rival on tour, Novak Djokovic. With former champion Daniil Medvedev also on the favorite list, it will be interesting to see how Zverev can make a mark this year.
