French tennis player Arthur Fils overwhelmed the crowd with his win over Richard Gasquet at the ongoing ASB Classics. Such was the applause from the fans in the stadium that Fils could not even understand the question from the presenter. It happened not once but multiple times.

After his convincing win over Gasquet, Fils came for the on-court interview but only to get distracted by the cheers from the crowd. As the presenter asked if he saw a possibility of going deeper into the tournament considering his emphatic win over Gasquet, Fils could not understand the question.

Even on the second attempt when the presenter broke the question into a simpler one, Fils could not get it. He even apologized for it and indicated that the cheer from the crowd was distracting him. But the presenter could not give it another try as he simply congratulated the Frenchman who gleefully accepted it and walked away.

Fils talked about the potential threats he has. The Frenchman also talked about drawing inspiration from veterans like Gasquet and Gael Monfils.

Richard is a great champion who won here last year. Gael inspires me, and is one of the most entertaining persons I know. Everyone wants to watch him play. I will try my best but there are very good players – Cameron Norrie, Ben Shelton, Felix Auger Aliassime - but I will try my best. I am taking everything that I can.
Arthur Fils said after the match. (H/T: ASB Classics).

Arthur Fils has progressed to the quarterfinals as he beat Nuno Borges in the second round. The Frenchman registered a win in straight sets (6-2, 6-0). He will not face Daniel Altmaier in the third round. It is worth mentioning that Fils made his debut at the ATP 250 event this year.
