Aryna Sabalenka breaks multiple records as she wins the Australian Open without dropping a set
The crowd erupted as Aryna Sabalenka won the last point of the match against Qinwen Zheng. There was no better stage for the defending champion to carry on her win streak as she records back-to-back wins at the Australian Open.
Last year, the Belarusian played lights-out tennis for the entirety of the fortnight. Having not dropped even a single set up until the finals, she won the tournament and recorded her first Grand Slam win. Continuing that streak, Sabalenka entered the 2024 Australian Open having to defend her title against the many talented stars.
After pulling out a close first-set victory against Coco Gauff in the semi-finals, she was nowhere close to losing one in the finals.
Having won the final in straight sets, she finds herself alongside great names like Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Ash Barty, Iga Swiatek, and more to win a major title without dropping a set. Continuing her 14-win streak in Melbourne, Sabalenka registers her second Grand Slam title and will moves up to the No. 1 position.
