“My heart is broken,” Aryna Sabalenka finally breaks silence on ‘ex’ boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov’s sudden demise

The untimely and sudden demise of Konstantin Koltsov, the ‘ex’-boyfriend of tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, made headlines yesterday. The Miami-Dade Police Department, who were the first to reach the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort where the incident took place and who looked over the case, called the death an ‘apparent suicide’ at first sight.

The tragic incident took place at a time when Aryna Sabalenka was already under pressure to participate in the 2024 Miami Open. After almost an entire day, the Belarusian has finally given her reaction to the entire situation.

In her Instagram story, Sabalenka revealed that she and Konstantin had broken up and were no longer together at the time of his death. However, it obviously does not make this any less heartbreaking and traumatising for the World No. 2.

Sabalenka wrote:

Konstantin's death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family's privacy during this difficult time

Aryna Sabalenka wrote

Aryna Sabalenka’s opponent is highly uncomfortable about playing against her

Aryna Sabalenka will be facing Paula Badosa in the second round of the 2024 Miami Open. Being the second seed in the tournament, she received automatic advancement into the second round and that will be her first match in the 2024 Miami Open. Badosa, who defeated Simona Halep after a sensational effort in the first round, however, has said that the situation makes her extremely uncomfortable to face the Belarusian.

The fact that Paula Badosa and Aryna Sabalenka are very close friends. In fact, she revealed that she has promised Sabalenka not to talk about the incident ahead of their match and so she decided to maintain that.

“Playing against her, it’s also uncomfortable. But I don’t really want to talk about it because I said I’m not going to talk about it. She’s my best friend and I promised that. She’s a strong woman. I think she will get the power from somewhere. I hope it’s going to be a battle, a good match.” Badosa said.

Paula Badosa has been really out of form since a very long time now. However, her performance against Simona Halep hinted towards betterment. Despite Aryna Sabalenka going through a lot currently, she remains the favorite to win this match.
