Many people seem to be very supportive and encouraging of 33-year-old star Caroline Wozniacki‘s return to pro tennis. And one of them is the popular Belarusian player Aryna Sabalenka.

She feels “it’s really inspiring” to have an exemplary figure like her in the WTA. That’s not all; as per the professional player herself, she was surprised and super happy with the comeback and feels that it is imperative to have a private life. She noted, “I was surprised and super happy. I felt like, ‘Ok, you can have a private life, have kids, and come back.’ It’s important for all of us. We sacrifice a lot. To have examples of people who come back and show there’s a way, it’s really inspiring.”

The tennis star has been practicing very hard; however, she is also aware of the change in the era. Now she has a completely different set of opponents who are much younger than her.

When asked about the same, Aryna replied that it is a benefit for her, as it becomes easier to improve once you have seen the picture from the outside. She also said that since she has already ticked off most of her boxes, now she’s playing for herself because she loves tennis.

She said, “I’m here. I’ve got nothing to lose. I have already done so much in my career and basically ticked off most of the goals that I had set. But I’m here because I love to compete. I love the sport, and I feel like I still have a lot to give to the sport. And doing it with the family just makes it so much more enjoyable.”

The Danish player is making a comeback at the Canadian Open after retiring in 2020. The former World No. 1 will be beginning her return from Montreal. She left tennis after the Australian Open in 2020 to start a family. She got married to former NBA player David Lee in 2019. In February 2021, she announced that she was expecting her first child, a girl, in June. She later gave birth to her son in June 2022.

After becoming the mother of two children, she finally feels ready to return to pro tennis. In a recent press conference, she admitted that it would be quite difficult to be a mother and travel around the world. However, Wozniacki stays optimistic and goes on to say that she will try to find some semblance of balance somehow.

She believes that she has seen more of Montreal in these past five days than she had when she visited many times before. Sabalenka and Wozniacki have played each other three times. Sabalenka won twice against her in the 2018 Canadian Open and 2019 Eastbourne Open, respectively, while Wozniacki won once in the Eastbourne Open in 2018.

Many are anticipating new stats and champions as Wozniacki has now entered pro tennis again. The Danish player will make her debut against Australian player Kimberly Birrell.
