Naomi Osaka will take on Caroline Garcia in the first round of the 2024 Doha Open. She recently succumbed to a straight-set loss against the French in the first round of the Australian Open as well and would definitely like to turn the tables this time. The Doha Open will be Osaka’s fourth tournament in 2024 since making her return in the Brisbane International

The Japanese player, so far, has not had a performance that she will be proud of. But it is important to note that she made a comeback to the court after a year-long break and will need some time to get back to top form. In the press conference ahead of the Doha Open, Naomi Osaka said that she has only played in four tournaments, including one Grand Slam so far. Thus, her poor form is not a concern yet.

I feel like I have only been at four tournaments, one of them was a slam, but I think the biggest thing that I have noticed is that there are so many quality players. Of course it was like that when I left, as well, but I think just watching the top players play like Iga, Sabalenka, of course, Coco, and just seeing them kind of grow into their games was really inspiring for me. It made me really want to play them.

She also revealed that while she was away from the court, she got highly inspired by players like Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff who have transformed themselves and improved their skills a lot while she was away. Thus, the 4-time Grand Slam winner said that the quality of players in the WTA right now is amazing.

Of course, I really miss my daughter, but I'm looking forward to her traveling with me, because she'll come to Europe. I guess that also makes me very excited to go to Europe.

The 26-year-old will hope for better results in the Doha Open. She recently lost in the first rounds of both the Australian Open and the Abu Dhabi Open. Before that, she was only able to reach the second round of the Brisbane International.
