Belarusian tennis ace Aryna Sabalenka won her second Grand Slam title on Saturday as she beat China’s Qinwen Zheng in straight sets. This was Sabalenka’s second consecutive title at the Australian Open as she had also clinched the trophy in 2023. Now, a day after her title win, Sabalenka has talked about her hunger to win more Grand Slam titles.
Sabalenka says that this taste of winning Grand Slam titles has made her hungrier as she aims to bag more. Although it took a year for Sabalenka to land her second Grand Slam title, the Belarusian came close to winning it in September last year when she reached the finals at the 2023 US Open. However, she was denied a chance by Coco Gauff.

The 25-year-old had also reached the semifinals of the French Open and Wimbledon last year. Now, she finally won her second title in Australia. The Belarusian achieved some memorable feat on her way to victory. While many may think that she might want to take some rest before hitting the start button, Sabalenka says she is hungrier than ever.
When you get one or two, you get hungrier and hungrier. You want it even more than you wanted it before because you have this taste of what it’s like. The goal is to keep pushing yourself to the limits and see how far you can get.Aryna Sabalenka said to Vogue Australia.
Aryna Sabalenka talks about the importance of second Grand Slam title
Aryna Sabalenka also talked about the importance of winning a second Grand Slam title. The Belarusian said that she did not want her to be seen as a player who won one title and then disappeared. The 25-year-old said that it was really important for her that she won another Grand Slam title.

Sabalenka also hopes to increase the court as her career progresses. The Belarusian made this statement right after her title win at the 2024 Australian Open.
Actually, it’s been in my mind that I didn’t want to be that player who won it and then disappeared. I just wanted to show that I’m able to be consistently there and I’m able to win another one. I really hope more, more than two, but for me, it was really important.
Aryna Sabalenka said at the post-match press conference. (H/T: Australian Open)
It is worth mentioning that Aryna Sabalenka has played in 24 Grand Slam tournaments so far in her career. Out of those, she has made it into five semifinals, and one final, and has won two titles. While the 25-year-old was struggling with her consistency initially, Sabalenka seems to have found her rhythm and hence she might bag the third Grand Slam title soon.
