“Serve like a man”- Aryna Sabalenka left stunned by misogynist question by reporter at Italian Open while comparing her to Serena Williams

Aryna Sabalenka recently won the Women’s singles in the Madrid Open 2023. She is currently competing in the Italian Open. The controversies that happened in the Madrid Open are still fresh and their questionable actions towards the Women contestants were a shocker. Aryna Sabalenka’s ‘cake situation’ during the Madrid Open is still being questioned by the fans.
Even amidst all the controversies, a journalist asked Sabalenka a particularly misogynistic question while also comparing her to Serena Williams. The journalist mentioned that Aryna Sabalenka was the only one who could return and serve like a man. This happened at the Italian Open.
Aryna was clearly stunned by the question to the point where her only reply was, ”If I feel that or not”. As expected, fans are in shock and disgust. People have started questioning the presence of constant misogyny in tennis.
As expected, Twitter has been flooded with posts from fans after this incident came to light. Fans tweeted, “From Madrid to Rome, the shame shit again and again, We still haven’t moved on from the shambles of Madrid and now this. Misogyny is ingrained in pro tennis. Tennis press conferences are the worst. Freaking circus. Whoever asked that question should be revoked.”
Aryna Sabalenka was compared to Serena Williams but she made it clear that she is not focusing on being the next Williams. Aryna Sabalenka also mentioned it felt good to be compared to such a great player and be considered a strong hitter.

Aryna Sabalenka will face 2020 Sofia Kenin in the second round of the 2023 Italian Open. Sofia Kenin was the 2020 Australian Open champion. Aryna Sabalenka has been performing greatly this season. She was the winner of the Madrid Open 2023 in the Women’s singles category.
At the start of this season, Aryna Sabalenka won her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open. Sabalenka has a lead of 2-0 against Sofia Kenin in the head-to-head. Their previous encounter was at the 2018 Tianjin Open. Aryna Sabalenka came out on top during that occasion. Sabalenka who is currently World No.2 is expected to win this bout due to her current form.
