Both the players played a see-saw of a set to take it to a tie-break but after that, it was only the Sabalenka show. The Belarusian served her way to win the first set and carried the same momentum to the next one. Gauff tried to come back in places but due to losing an early break, she allowed Sabalenka to take control of the match.

Continuing her dominant run, Sabalenka took down the American in the perfect manner. Having not dropped a set all tournament, the defending champion is one step closer to a perfect defense. Having won last year, she was one of the favorites entering the tournament and did well to hold that reputation. Sabalenka will take on the winner of Dayana Yastremska and Qinwen Zheng in her second Australian Open finals.
